The Fair Oaks Village Enhancement Committee through the collaboration of property owners, business owners, the County of Sacramento and other stakeholders developed a Vision document in 2008 to identify a framework of improvements for the Fair Oaks Village district to increase its vitality as a thriving business district.
As part of making Fair Oaks Village a destination place for people and their children, the need for a signage system was identified on page 21, second paragraph and on page 22, second paragraph of the Vision document. The Way Finding project implemented signage improvements that enabled that clear direction to key areas of the community as required by the Vision while furthering the identity and community of Fair Oaks Village. Before undertaking this project the Omni-Means consultant Group was retained to prepare a "Way Finding Study” since they had helped prepare the Vision document and understood it’s goals
The County of Sacramento through the help of Supervisor Roberta MacGlashan's office and the Department of Transportation provided the funds necessary to complete this project.
