Concussion Nutrition Protocols
Use only after a (FREE) HOPE Wellness Institute Concussion Protocol consultation.
Please remember to have a medical doctor check the person to rule out serious injury like bleeding in the brain.
First Aid Kit
Use as soon as possible
- N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) 4,000 mg = 8x 500 mg capsules
- Vitamin C 2,000 mg = 4x 500 mg capsules
- Vitamin D 10,000 iu = 2x 5000 iu capsules
- Curcumin* 1,000 mg = 2x 500 mg capsule
- MCT oil 1** Tablespoon
- Branch Chain Amino Acid Powder 1 Tablespoon
* note: Choose a product that includes pepper oil for this. Curcumin should include black pepper oil. The liver metabolizes the pepper oil before the curcumin active ingredient giving it more time to be effective.
At Home Protocol
Start day of concussion and for 4 days
- N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) 2,000 mg = 4x 500 mg capsules
- Vitamin C 1,000 mg = 2x 500 mg capsules
- Vitamin D 5,000 iu = 1x 5000 iu capsules
- Curcumin* 1,000 mg = 2x 500 mg capsules
- MCT oil 3** Tablespoons
- Branch Chain Amino Acid Powder 1 Tablespoon
- Omega 3 1,600 mg
= 2x 800 mg capsules
** note: MCT oil can cause loose stool. start with 1 teaspoon, spread through the day and increase as your body tolerates it.
At Home Protocol
Days 5 to 7 and for up to a month+
- N-Acetyl Cysteine(NAC) 1,500 mg = 3x 500 mg capsules
- Vitamin C 1,000 mg = 2x 500 mg capsules
- Vitamin D 5,000 iu = 1x 5000 iu capsules
- Curcumin* 500 mg = 1x 500 mg capsule
- MCT oil 1** Tablespoon
- Branch Chain Amino Acid Powder 1 Tablespoon
- Omega 3 1,600 mg
= 2x 800 mg capsules
*** note: Be aware that labeling can be confusing. Example it may take a 2 capsule serving to be 1000 mg
Concussion Rescue Protocol
- Have injury reviewed by Medical Doctor for issues needing medical intervention like a brain bleed.
- Concussive injuries are cumulative. Addressing today's NOW, minimizes the cumulative effect later.
- Healing past injuries minimizes their future impact .
When your concussive hit does not require medical treatment.
- Rest for 48 - 72 hours (2-3 days)

- Start First Aid Nutrition Protocol as soon as possible = immediately.
- Start the Home Nutritional Protocol today.
- Continue Home Nutritional Protocol for 1 month.
- Sleep is really important. You may notice it is somewhat disrupted.
- Plan for more sleep time to account for both healing and disruptions.
- We are made to move. Begin Physical Activity as soon as you can.
- Starting Level is individual - keep it below triggering symptoms.
- Start with walking.
- Stop if symptoms return.
- When symptoms are not present, you can increase your activity in steps. When symptoms reappear, stop and return to activity level below triggering symptoms. Continue to slowly increase as you can.
- Being active triggers the body to heal and recover faster. Being active at just below levels that trigger symptoms maximizes your recovery speed.
